The Knights Templar were a Christian military order in the Medieval ages. The formal name of the group was: The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon. The group was created after the First Crusade in 1066 and lasted 2 centuries. Their purpose was to ensure the safety of the large numbers of European pilgrims who flowed toward Jerusalem after its conquest. The church officially endorsed the Knights Templar in 1129 and became a favoured charity in Europe. Templar Knights were easy to recognize with their white mantle and a distinct red cross. This red cross forms the face of this savings bank. This hand painted bank is made of resin. Dimensions: 6" x 7"
